Sailing Adventure
Ipswich to Inverness - Passage Making Masterclass
April 22nd to May 4th
Overview
This is a 12 day journey up the east coast of Britain aboard the luxury 57’ Oyster sailing yacht Asante. While suitable for all, the experience is perhaps especially suited for those yachtsmen who are looking to log sea miles towards the Yachtmaster qualification and gain the all-important practical experience in both passage planning and pilotage. With at least three 60-mile qualifying passages, night sails, anchorages and numerous marinas to approach then this is the ideal trip. But you may wish to simply improve your navigational knowledge and seamanship skills so with a highly experienced Yachtmaster Instructor onboard who has logged over 120,000 sea miles then this is also the trip for you. And finally, simply enjoy the sights that the East coast of England and Scotland have to offer in a comfort rarely afforded on such a journey.

Navigation Training
This adventure provides you with the opportunity to put in practice your navigation skills and further develop them with the short and longer passages including night sails. With the input of an YMI instructor showing perhaps a different way of doing things to remove the stress and issues when planning a longer passage. We will look at using paper charts and tidal stream atlas as well as using electronic charts and aids to the best effect. Spending more time enjoying the sailing than spending it hunched over a chart table missing out on the fun when sailing offshore.
Pilotage
There will be a number of opportunities to gain new skills on pilotage with entry day and night into harbours and the wonderful Holy Island where we will anchor. We will share with you what works and what does not work when developing pilotage plans allowing you to enhance your skills using both traditional methods and electronic aids.
