Overview

Join us in Port Louis, only a 33 minute taxi ride from the international airport as we prepare to set sail.  Our first stop is the island of Reunion.  We spend about six days exploring this small piece of Europe set in the Indian Ocean.  The melting pot of cultures and nationalities have been absorbed into the cuisine making the food interesting and exotic.  Reunion is also home to one of the worlds most active volcanos with 150 recorded eruptions since the 17th century – the most recent in April 2021.  You are welcome to climb it!  There are amazing hiking opportunities on the island but it has its fare share of idyllic beaches too.  From Reunion we sail the 1370NM (8-11 day) passage to make landfall at Richards Bay, South Africa.  A time to get together with our fellow World Arc friends and perhaps have a tour of the KwaZulu-Natal National Park.  From Richards Bay we will hop our way round the cost stopping at Knysna Quays.  This gem of South Africa with its streets lined with cafes, galleries and independent shops and seafood restaurants stands out thanks to the sandstone cliffs that dramatically separate it from the pounding surf of the Indian Ocean.  Follow the trails in the Featherbed Nature Reserve, or take the many guided hike or cycle rides through Knysna forest.  Perhaps visit the Elephant park or venture further afield along the famed Garden Route.  Onward to our final destination of Cape Town where we will say our farewells.
