LEG 3 - GALAPAGOS to MARQUESAS ISLANDS - Santa Cruz - Marqueses archipelago - Nuka Hiva
4th March to 30th March
Overview
Join us in Santa Cruz, Galapagos. We will be making final preparations for the amazing passage that we have ahead. Two days later we leave the unique archipelago of Galapagos behind and make our 2980 NM journey across the Pacific Ocean. The passage is expected to take 15-18 days with both the steady SE trade winds and the gentle equatorial current helping us along. By the end of our first full day we will have found our rhythm. Watches will be running smoothly, the galley duties allotted and the music playlist agreed! The fishing line will have been deployed and sea legs will have been found. After the end of the first full day we may not see any of our fleet on the horizon but we will still hear them on the VHF. By the end of the first week even that is unlikely. Our landfall will be the majestic and historic island of Hiva Ou. Famed for its untamed landscape, giant stone tiki and final resting place of artist Paul Gauguin. You will be stepping foot on some of the most remote islands in the world as we cruise our way up through the island chain finishing at the largest of them all – Nuka Hiva. This island is served by direct flights from Tahiti making it a convenient place to say farewell.
