Sailing Adventure
LEG 7 - FIJI to AUSTRALIA - Denerau - Vanuatu - Mackay - Whitsunday Islands - Airlie Beach
11th July to 10th August
Overview
It couldn’t be easier. Fly in to Nadi International Airport and join us in Denerau Marina – a 20 minute taxi ride away. We will pick you up and whisk you off to Muskat Cove nestled in a secluded and uncrowded hideaway that captures the essence of Fiji. We set sail towards Vanuatu pausing to visit the string of volcanic islands of Mamanucas and Yasawa dangling off the coast of Nadi. Considered by many to be the most beautiful area in Fiji you will be awed by the crystal clear waters, palm fringed sandy beaches and live coral reefs. From Yasawa we make the 450 NM (2-4 day) downwind passage to Vanuatu. This country has been rated most at risk by the UN. Already a carbon-negative country Vanuatu aims to go further and phase out all fossil fuels by 2030. We will make landfall at the island of Aneiytum then cruise our way north through the island chain. Stare into an active volcano on Tanna and watch the lava dance like fireworks across the sky. Snorkel over Milliion Dollar Point – a bizarre site where cars tanks and guns were simply dumped at the end of WWII. Hike up to Hope Waterfall or visit Millennium Cave. Our journey through Vanuatu ends at Port Vila where we meet up with World Arc yachts as we gather and set sail together for the 1050NM downwind passage to Australia (6-8 days). We make our approach through The Great Barrier Reef before taking a rest at Mackay. A few days later we head north cruising through the Whitsunday Islands with its blue waters, coral seas and coastal views more beautiful than any postcard. Our journey ends in the laid back tropical resort town of Airlie Beach Australia. With Prosperine Airport only 12 miles out of town there is easy access from all of Australias major cities.
